2010-06-27 - I got to know the lovely Belgian Slaapwel Records label in fall 2009 and was impressed by Wim Maesschalks original approach in releasing records. "Nomen est omen" as they say in latin so Wim only releases records that make him fall asleep at night. So I've asked him if I could have a go at it and he agreed. I succeeded in giving him a good night's rest with a 30-minute piece called Ruis (a dutch word for the sound, made by wind in the trees or waves on a shore), composed in november 2009. You can check out the music here.

2010-06-26 - Here's another nice Spectrum review on Textura

2010-02-11 - As of now I've also set up a separate blog to inform listeners & fans  because it is a bit easier to keep things up-to-date on a blog (I think ;-). Anyway, if you feel like it, you can always check out the new Sonmi451 blog here.

2010-01-31 - U-Cover has released a new Sonmi451-album called Spectrum. It has become a nice droney album. More info here. I haven't stopped creating tracks the past year so there's more music to be released in spring...

2008-09-07 - It’s been a while since I updated the blog… The past months, I’ve been working on new material and American label Somnia, based in Portland Oregon, will release a new Sonmi451 album. It will be called “Über Allen Gipfeln…” I don’t know the exact release date yet but I think it’s going to be released somewhere at the end of the fall, beginnning of winter 2008. As soon as I have more news on the release date I’ll post it.

2008-05-20 - Russian blogsite Playmytape releases mixes and live-perfomances from artists coming from all over the globe. Playmytape's latest addition is a Sonmi451 mix, containing a few nice ambient tracks but also different pieces from some of my favourite soundtracks. Download the mix here.

2008-03-08 - The excellent blogsite Low Light Mixes released a Best of 2007-mix with what they consider the finest ambient tracks of the year 2007. Sonmi 451 is also included, along with a.o. Fennesz & Sakamoto, Stars of the Lid etc...

2008-03-02 - I've uploaded two songs from the new album in the audio section. Enjoy Probe and Outer Shell from "Probes & Prisms".

2008-03-01 - Bad news and good news. The bad news is the Greenhouse label is no more. The label has shut down after three releases. I want to say a warm thank you tot François Van Liefferinge for his zealous efforts to promote ambient and electronic music. So thank you François...and keep serving those excellent Daikiris at the Limonada. Now for the better news: U-Cover has taken over the latest Sonmi451 release and released it with a new cover on their Cdr-sublabel. So it is still available here. Come to think of it... I will upload some new tracks in the audio section shortly.

2007-02-11 - U-Cover released the new Sonmi-451 3''-cd, packaged in a neat DVD-sleeve called “Cloud Atlas”. It contains three tracks, all in a very minimal Biosphere- or Pan American-style. At the same time & due to much demand U-Cover have re-released the first cd called “Vladivostock” (originally released november 2005)which was sold out for some time. Also “A Phosphorous Spot”, released november 2006, is still available.

2007-01-02 - Igloo Magazine reviewed the first Sonmi-451-cd, released november 2005. You can read the review here.

2007-01-02 - Video-artist Steven Jones, living in the UK , used Vladivostok as a soundtrack for one of his new shortfilms. Check it out here.

2006-11-25 - I've already got some very nice feedback on the sonmifourfiveone page at MySpace.com. Thanks everyone (especially Akira, who was so kind to let me know he saw my new cd in a record shop in Tokyo- Japan)...

2006-11-25 - Following the web 2.0 - hype I've desided to create my own little MySpace-spot. Unfortunately the sonmi451-moniker was already taken so I've chosen sonmifourfiveone as an alias on MySpace...

2006-11-20 -  Famous netlabel Monotonik released some of the old tunes of the sold-out Vladivostok-cd as a netrelease called "The Quiet EP" I've got surprisingly good reactions on that release so big thanks to Simon Carless who runs the label...

2006-11-06 - Belgian recordlabel U-cover just released my new album called "A Phosphorous Spot". It's much more atmospheric in style than my previous album. If you like Shuttle 358 or the minimal stuff from the Kranky or 12K-labels, you might like "A Phosphorous Spot" as well. Check out a track from the new album here or listen to some snippets over here. It's out on 500 copies. I hope you like it. You can always drop me a line and tell me what you think of it…!

2006-09-16 - Here's a link to a mix by Shuttle 358 (a so-called "Typerecords Radioshow" as mixes are called in Type Records-speak. It's a beautiful mix with many unknown Japanese gems (at least unknown to me). An ideal chilly soundtrack for those long winter evenings...

2006-08-10 - For your listening pleasure I've put my first mix (30 minutes of ambient & lazy beats) online. You can grab it here. An excellent listening experience  featuring artists like a.o. Julien Neto, Helios & Sabi,  for those lazy summer days... Contact me & I'll send you a playlist.

2006-08-05 - Anyone into field-recordings might check out Shawn Hatfield's (a.k.a the infamous Twerk) website. Apart from being an excellent artist, Shawn has also set up a mastering-company where you can let your stuff master at apparantly very reasonable fees. You can check out his field-recordings here.

2006-07-11 - Check out Loscil's downloadable release called Stases on Canadian netlabel One. It gorgeous & it's free. Loscil creates beautiful textures & drones for the excellent Kranky-label.

2006-06-26 - Robert Henke of Monolake fame (also co-founder of Ableton, the sequence-software "par excellence" for all electronic artists who cannot (or are to lazy to ;-) program their own Max-MSP software patches), has created a strangely beautiful ambient drone with only one single midi-note, played in a series of linked Ableton effect-patches. It might be considered as a "perpetuum mobile", created in Ableton. Apparently, it is created in a beta-version of the soon to be released Ableton 6. The track can be downloaded for free in the download section of the Monolake website. I prefer the long ambient version (66 minutes), created on june 26th, over the shorter one, created on july 6th.

2006-06-24 - Those who haven't discovered Type Records yet should definitely check out this excellent UK-label. They have some of the finest electronic/folktronic artists on their roster: Helios, Deafcenter, Julien Neto etc... From time to time, Type Records spoil us fans with a so-called Radio Show (i.e. a mix, varying in length from half an hour till an hour). Check out their radio-shows here. I like the Shuttle358-mix best...

januari 2006 - Vladivostok sold out @ u-cover. I've put all the songs online so you can still enjoy them. Check them out in the audio-section...
